In Numbers 14, the Israelites are afraid when the spies return from Canaan, and complain saying they would've been better off in Egypt. How soon they (we) forget....

In Numbers 13:2 the LORD says, "Send some men to explore the land of Canaan, which I AM GIVING TO THE ISRAELITES." The land was already theirs!

Moses & Aaron tried to encourage them. "Only do not rebel against the LORD. And do not be afraid of the people of the land, because we will swallow them up....

In John 11 we read the story of Lazarus death. Doesn't it seem strange that when Jesus heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was 2 more days? (vs 6). Then Jesus mentions several times that this event occured "that you may believe" (vs 15, 26, 40) and it was for "God's glory" (vs 4, 40). It didn't make sense to the people: Thomas thot they were going to "die" with Jesus (vs 16; Mary & Martha both said their brother wouldn' t have died if Jesus...

Do you ever get tempted? Silly question I know... we ALL get tempted!
But do you KNOW when you are being tempted? We might think it will be some gross sin and so obvious that of course we'll say no. Not always so.
Satan is very subtle. He doesn't just hit us in the face with - "I think you should quit reading the Bible." or "You don't need to go to church." No, he slowly uses distractions to draw us away. Often...

I'm sure you're familiar with the verse in Matthew 6 where Jesus tells us not to worry about what we will wear or what we will eat. He tells us God takes care of the birds and we are worth more than they are.
In light of our falling market, are you worried about your investments.... your retirement fund?
Do we really believe that our Heavenly Father will supply ALL our needs? Or is it our 'wants' that we're concerned (worried) about?
Let's look at the end of the passage;...

Read these words from Psalm 107:
8 Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness,
And for His wonderful works to the children of men!
9 For He satisfies the longing soul,
And fills the hungry soul with goodness.

We are soo blessed in this country! How often do we give thanks as verse 8 says? Just look back on yesterday or the last...

If this verse was the focus of your marriage, just take a moment to imagine what could happen!
"Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her"
(Epesians 5:25)
Wow! As Christ loved the church? Unconditional, sacrificial, unselfish, your will, not mine, humble .... these are just few descriptions that come to mind of what Christ's love is like. If our focus would be our spouse, our family and not ME, with God's power...

"Look, today I offer you life and success, death and destruction. I command you today to love the Lord your God, to do what he wants you to do, and to keep his commands, his rules, and his laws. Then you will live and grow in number, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land you are entering to take as your own. But if you turn away from the Lord and do not obey him, if you are led to bow and serve other gods, I tell you today that...

We hear so much about taking time for ourselves: "Pamper yourself".... "You have to learn to love yourself before you can love someone else"..... "Schedule time for just 'you'...
BUT what did JESUS say?
"If anyone would come after me,
He must DENY himself and take up his cross and follow me.
For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it." Matthew 16:24, 25
I'm not saying we shouldn't take care of ourselves. Just...
